Charles Chute
Sir Charles Lennard Chute, 1st Baronet, was an English baronet.
He was educated at Eton and Magdalen College Oxford, and served in World War I], first as staff captain, and then as brigade major of 164 Infantry Brigade. He was awarded the Military Cross in 1919.. He married Laura Joan Baker in 1912
He was elected to the Hampshire County Council in 1925, and was chairman from 1938 to 1955. The Chute Baronetcy, of The Vyne in the County of Southampton, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 4 July 1952 for him, For public services in Hampshire and for being Chairman of the County Council. The title became extinct on his death four years later.
On his death he bequeathed The Vyne, his family home and estate, to the National Trust.
