Örebro SK Handboll

Örebro SK Handboll is the handball section of Örebro SK, a Swedish sport club based in Örebro. In 1938–39, they made their first appearance in Svenska mästerskapet, the tournament held to determine the Swedish Champions until 1952. They were eliminated by GUIF in the quarterfinals. In 1948, they were promoted to the top division, at the time known as Allsvenskan. In 1949–50, Örebro reached the final of SM, but were defeated by IK Heim. In the following season they won Allsvenskan, but could not reproduce their league form in SM, where they were eliminated by IFK Kristianstad in the semifinals. After 1952 the SM tournament was discontinued and the title of Swedish Champions was awarded to the league winners. Örebro won two consecutive Swedish titles in 1955–56 and 1956–57. In 1956–57 they also reached the final in the inaugural season of the European Cup, but lost against Czechoslovak club HC Dukla Prague. They finished second in Allsvenskan in 1957–58, but were relegated in the following season. They were promoted back to the top division in 1960, but were relegated two years later and have not returned since. In 2017–18, Örebro play in Division 2, the fourth level.
