1872 Aberdeen by-election


The Aberdeen by-election of 1872 was fought on 29 June 1872. The byelection was fought due to the death of the incumbent MP of the Liberal Party, William Henry Sykes. It was won by the moderate "Moderate Liberal" candidate John Farley Leith, against the official Liberal candidate John Farley Leith whose reputation as a Radical led to a split in the local party
