1946 Miami Hurricanes football team

The 1946 Miami Hurricanes football team represented the University of Miami for the 1946 college football season. The Hurricanes played their home games at the Burdine Stadium in Miami, Florida. The team was coached by Jack Harding, in his eighth year as head coach for the Hurricanes.

Schedule

The November 29 game was originally scheduled to be against Penn State. That game was cancelled in early November by unanimous vote of the Penn State team. Miami officials felt that Penn State fielding their African American players Wallace Triplett and Dennis Hoggard in Miami could have led to "unfortunate incidents", and the team chose to cancel the game rather than playing without Triplett and Hoggard. Detroit was added to the schedule in replacement of Penn State in mid-November.
