1960–61 Yorkshire Cup


1960–61 Yorkshire Cup was the fifty-third occasion on which the Yorkshire Cup competition was held.
Wakefield Trinity won the trophy by beating Huddersfield by the score of 16-10 in the final played at Headingley, Leeds, now in West Yorkshire. The attendance for this match was 17,456 and receipts were £2,937.This was Wakefield Trinity's first of two consecutive triumphs and the club's third appearance out of five in a period of nine years.

Background

This season, there were no junior/amateur clubs taking part, no new entrants and no "leavers". Therefore, the total of entries remained the same at sixteen. This in turn resulted in no byes in the first round.

The Rugby League Yorkshire Cup competition was a knock-out competition between rugby league clubs from the county of Yorkshire. The actual area was at times increased to encompass other teams from outside the county such as Newcastle, Mansfield, Coventry, and even London ran from around August-time through to around May-time and this competition always took place early in the season, in the Autumn, with the final taking place in December
