1978 United States Senate election in Virginia


The 1978 United States Senate election in Virginia was held on November 7, 1978. The race being very close with former Secretary of the Navy Republican John Warner narrowly defeating Attorney General of Virginia Andrew P. Miller.

Richard D. Obenshain was the Republican Party nominee for the seat prior to his death in a plane crash in August, 1978, and was subsequently replaced by Warner.
