1979 Ålandic legislative election
Åland held legislative elections on 20 October 1979. It elected the diet, which has 30 members, elected for a four-year term by proportional representation.
The 1979 election marked the first participation of the Åland Centre, who had formed from a loose electoral organisation known as Landsbygdens och skärgårdens valförbund ; the Liberals for Åland, who had formed from a merger of LOS-Liberalerna and Mittenliberalerna; and the Ålandic Left.Results
