1995 St. Louis Rams season

The 1995 St. Louis Rams season was the team's 58th year with the National Football League and the first of 21 seasons in St. Louis. The Rams looked to start their tenure in St. Louis strong by improving on their 4–12 record from 1994. In their first game in St. Louis, the Rams beat the New Orleans Saints, 17–13, and ultimately got off to a 4–0 start and looked poised to make a statement in the NFC. However, the team struggled later in the season. In week 8, the Rams were pounded, 44–10, by the dominant 49ers at home. Following this loss, the team could not recover, as they only won two more games for the remainder of the season. Ultimately, the Rams slumped to a 7–9 record and missed the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season.

The Rams roared to a 5–1 start to the season, before losing eight of their final 10 games. According to statistics site Football Outsiders, the Rams had the 5th best team in the league, in terms of statistical average; at the end of the season, they were ranked 27th out of 30 teams. Football Outsiders stated that apparently "the only reason for this flop is that the Rams' 44–10 loss to San Francisco at home in Week 8 sunk them into a deep psychological depression. What, the Rams front office couldn't afford a sports psychologist?" The first four home games against the Saints, Bears, Falcons and 49ers were played at Busch Memorial Stadium and the other four against the Panthers, Bills, Redskins and Dolphins were played at the Trans World Dome.
