1998 US Open – Women's Singles


defeated defending champion Martina Hingis, 6–3, 7–5, to win the Women's Singles tennis title at the 1998 US Open. This was a rematch of the previous year's semifinal. Davenport did not drop a set throughout the entire tournament.
The tournament was notable for the final US Open appearance of five-time champion Steffi Graf in the main draw, who lost to Patty Schnyder in the fourth round. It was also the first US Open appearance of six-time champion Serena Williams, where she won her first title in the following year.
