2001 Liga Indonesia Premier Division


The 2001 Liga Indonesia Premier Division was the seventh season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top Indonesian professional league for association football clubs, since its formation in 1994. It began on 14 January and ended on 7 October. Persija Jakarta won the title after beating defending champions, PSM Makassar 3–2 in the final.
For the first time ever, the Premier Division will be broadcast by RCTI.

Overview

It was contested by 28 teams, 14 teams in the west division and 14 teams in the east division. Gelora Dewata moved their headquarters from Denpasar, Bali, to Sidoarjo, East Java, and changed their name to Gelora Delta Putra, and later changed their name to Deltras Sidoarjo in 2002. Persema Malang changed their name to Malang United. Persija Jakarta is the winner of this season after beat PSM Makassar 3-2 in the final match.
