2002 US Open – Men's Singles


won his final Grand Slam title in what was also his final Grand Slam appearance, defeating his rival Andre Agassi in the final to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2002 US Open. Sampras retired after the win. Lleyton Hewitt was the defending champion, but he was defeated in the semifinals by Agassi.
Notably, this was the last time when 8 different men appeared in the four Grand Slam singles finals in a calendar year.
