The season began on 23 July 2016 and will conclude on 28 May 2017 , with a winter break between early December 2016 and late February 2017 . In the regular season , each of the 12 teams play home-and-away once, resulting in 22 games played each. The top six teams in the regular season qualify for the Championship round , the bottom six teams qualify for the Relegation round .
