Incumbent Democratic mayor Weinberger was first elected in 2012 and ran for a third term in 2018 facing opposition from Progressive candidate Carina Driscoll, step-daughter of former mayor Bernie Sanders, and independent candidate Infinite Culcleasure, both of whom failed to defeat him.
