Mattek-Sands played alongside Latisha Chan, but lost in the second round to Irina Bara and Mihaela Buzărnescu. Šafářová teamed up with Svetlana Kuznetsova, but lost in the second round to Sorana Cîrstea and Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková won their first Grand Slam doubles title, defeating Eri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya in the final, 6–3, 6–3.
Despite losing in the first round with different partners, Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina jointly attained the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking at the end of the tournament. Chan and Tímea Babos were also in contention for the top ranking at the beginning of the tournament but were eliminated from contention when they lost.
