The North Carolina Tar Heels the defending regular season champions. The Florida State Seminoles are the defending ACC Tournament champions.

Pre-season poll

The 2019 ACC Preseason Poll was be announced on August 8, 2019. The defending regular season champions, North Carolina were voted to repeat their regular season crown. Florida State was voted in second place, even though they received two more first place votes than North Carolina. The leagues 14 head coaches also voted on a preseason All-ACC team.
