2020 Nicholls Colonels football team


The 2020 Nicholls Colonels football team will represent Nicholls State University in the 2020 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Southland Conference. The Colonels will be led by sixth-year head coach Tim Rebowe and play their home games at Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium.

Previous Season

The Colonels finished the 2019 season 9–5, 7–2 in Southland play to finish tied for first in the Southland Conference, along with Central Arkansas. The Colonels received an automatic bid to the postseason tournament following their conference championship. The Colonels defeated North Dakota in the First Round 24-6 before ultimately losing to North Dakota State in the Second Round by the score of 37-13.

Schedule

The 2020 schedule consists of 5 home and 6 away games in the regular season. The Colonels will travel to Southland foes Northwestern State, Central Arkansas, Abilene Christian, Houston Baptist, and McNeese State. The Colonels will play host to Southland foes Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, Southeastern Louisiana.
The Colonels' non-conference football schedule consists of one away gameto LSU of the Southeastern Conference in the NCAA Division I FBS.
Nicholls had games scheduled against LSU and Mississippi Valley State, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
