808 (Blaque song)

"808" is an song by American R&B girl group Blaque. It was written by R. Kelly along with group member Natina Reed and produced by the former for their self-titled debut album, with its lyrics referencing the Roland TR-808 drum machine. Released as Blaque's debut single, "808" was a success in the United States, becoming the group's first top ten hit, peaking at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching top five peaking at number four on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles. The accompanying music video, directed by Martin Weisz, has cameo appearances by Kelly and TLC member Lisa Lopes.
The remix of "808" sampled LL Cool J's 1988 single "Going Back to Cali" and was a completely new song with the exception of the rap during the bridge. This is the version that received the majority of mainstream pop airplay, in early 2000.
