8th Filmfare Awards
The 8th Filmfare Awards were held in Bombay to honor the best films in Hindi cinema in 1961. K. Asif's magnum opus Mughal-e-Azam was the predictable winner for Best Film. However, there was some controversy as the film did not win many major awards. It was expected to steam-roll the competition.
One glaring upset was music director Naushad's loss for Mughal-e-Azam's epic soundtrack.
