ACG Parnell College


ACG Parnell College is an independent co-educational facility and is part of ACG Education, whose New Zealand schools are members of the Independent Schools of New Zealand. The school is located in the suburb of Parnell in Auckland, New Zealand. The school offers the Cambridge Assessment International Education and is a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand. ACG Parnell College is split up into three campuses - Primary School Campuses on 39 George Street, Middle School Campus on 2 Titoki Street and most recently in 2019 the new addition of the Senior Campus on 9 Davis Crescent.

History

ACG Parnell College was founded in 1998 and originally provided education for students in Years 7 to 10. In 2007 the College was redeveloped, renamed and expanded to offer places at Years 1 to 13.
In 2019 ACG Parnell College opened its new expansion of the college - Senior Campus. The unique pre - university styled campus is located on 9 Davis Crescent Street, Newmarket. The campus offers both Cambridge International Examinations and The International Baccalaureate. The new Senior Campus serves Year 12 and 13 only.

School leadership

Mr Larne Edmaedes was the school's former Principal. He was appointed as Principal in 2005, he has worked with staff to establish and develop the new ACG campus. He left the college at the end of the 2016 academic year, leaving Mr Ed Coup as acting principal. In early June 2017, Mr Russell Brooke became the school Principal and left the school on 1 March 2020, leaving Mr Damian Watson as Principal.
The Principal is in charge of the Primary School and specifically, the College. The College is also run by two Deputy Principals and an Assistant Principal.
Aside from Deans, administrative and support staff, the school employs approximately 50-60 teachers.

Curriculum

The school offers Cambridge International Exams and as of 2019, due to the merge with ACG Senior College, also offers the International Baccalaureate programme. The school's average class time is 65 minutes except for Tuesday, which has an average class time of 55 minutes.

ACG Parnell College has over 800 students enrolled. Fifty-eight percent of students were male and 42% were female. Forty-five percent identified themselves as European New Zealanders, 16% were Chinese, 13% Indian and 4% were Māori and Pacific Islanders.
