Abbas Ahmed Atwi


Abbas Ahmed Atwi is a Lebanese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for club Nejmeh.
Making his debut for Lebanon in 2002, Atwi became the all-time most capped player for his country with 84 international caps; he played for the national team for over 13 years, until his final match in 2016. Atwi is not related to fellow Lebanese footballer Abbas Ali Atwi, who is also known as Onika.

Club career

Atwi started his career for Nejmeh in the 1997–98 season and has played for 10 years for the club, playing more than 400 matches and scoring more than 100 goals in his 10 year stay. In 2017 he joined Al Shabab Al Arabi, before moving to Shabab Al Sahel the following year. In 2020 Atwi rejoined Nejmeh on a two-year deal.

International career

Atwi began to play in 2002 for Lebanon in a match against Jordan. He appeared in every FIFA World Cup qualification at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions. Atwi is the joint most-capped player for his country with 84 official matches.
