Adam Makos


Adam Makos is an American writer, editor, historian and publisher. Makos specializes in war novels and biographies appearing on the New York Times Best Seller list twice for his works Spearhead and A Higher Call. While in high school Makos was one of the founding members of Valor a magazine depicting veterans stories ranging from World War I to Iraq War.
Makos has published two NY Times Best Sellers; Spearhead and A Higher Call as well as Voices of the Pacific which follows marines and seamen who served in the Pacific during World War II. In 2018 it was announced Makos' third novel Devotion would be turned into a film. The release date has yet to be announced.

Early life and education

Makos was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Makos grew up in nearby Montoursville and attended Lyter Elementary School and then Montoursville Area High School. Makos was a member of the school's French club and was signed up for a trip to Paris until opting to go to Walt Disney World with his family. The clubs flight to Paris was TWA Flight 800.

Career

Makos has been writing for Valor since high school but his first independent novel was in 2012 when A Higher Call was released, it detailed air battles during World War II and followed the war-time lives of six airmen. Makos saw tremendous success his first novel was on the New York Time Best Seller list for thirteen weeks and sold over 175,000 copies and 110,000 mobile ebook and audio book downloads. Makos has seen success on two more novels, Devotion and Voices of the Pacific.
In 2019, Makos published a biography titled Spearhead biography about a tank gunner during the United States invasion of Nazi Germany. Only one week after publication the novel made its first appearance of the New York Times Best Seller list. Going as high as number 2 on the nonfiction list.
