Adelphi, Ohio


Adelphi is a village in Ross County, Ohio, United States. The population was 380 at the 2010 census.
Adelphi was laid out in 1804 by two brothers, and named after the Greek word for "brothers". Adelphi was incorporated as a village in 1838.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 380 people, 154 households, and 100 families living in the village. The population density was. There were 175 housing units at an average density of. The racial makeup of the village was 95.0% White, 1.6% African American, 0.3% Asian, and 3.2% from two or more races.
There were 154 households, of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 35.1% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.00.
The median age in the village was 39 years. 26.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.3% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.5% were from 25 to 44; 26.1% were from 45 to 64; and 15.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 51.1% male and 48.9% female.

As of the census of 2000, there were 371 people, 156 households, and 111 families living in the village. The population density was 1,343.3 people per square mile. There were 176 housing units at an average density of 637.3 per square mile. The racial makeup of the village was 96.23% White, 2.96% African American, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.54% of the population.
