Afrogecko


Afrogecko is a genus of small leaf-toed geckos, lizards in the family Gekkonidae. The genus is endemic to southern Africa. The genus was revised in 2014 by Heinicke et al.

Description

Afrogecko species are moderately sized geckos measuring in snout–vent length. They have a fairly large head and long snout, cylindrical body, and round, tapering tail.

Species

The genus contains the following two species:
Nota bene: A binomial authority in parentheses indicates that the species was originally described in a genus other than Afrogecko.
Following a revision in 2014, Afrogecko ansorgii and Afrogecko porphyreus remain in Afrogecko, whereas Afrogecko plumicaudus becomes the type species of the new monotypic genus Kolekanos, and Afrogecko swartbergensis the type species of the new monotypic genus Ramigekko.
