Aize Obayan


Aize Obayan was a Nigerian educational administrator and a professor of counselling with specialization in multicultural aspects of Human Behavioural Disposition.

Education and career

Obayan attended St Andrews Scotland for her 'A' levels. She later proceeded for her first degree in B.Ed. at the University of Benin between 1979 to 1982. Obayan obtained her PhD from the University of Ilorin, thereafter UNILORIN employed her as an assistant lecturer, in 1986, she rose through the ranks to become an associate professor in 1995 and prior to joining Covenant University, she was a senior lecturer at the University of Roehampton, UK.
Obayan served as Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Canaanland, Ota, Nigeria from 2005 until December 2012, when she was replaced by Charles Ayo. She also was the Vice Chancellor of Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State and Director of African Leadership Development Centre in Covenant University.

Personal life

She was married to Adetokunbo Obayan of the leadership consultancy firm Adetokunbo Obayan and Associates; he died in 2017. They had two adult children together namely Joshua and Toluwani. She died on January 29, 2019. She was a born again Christian.
