Alina Smith was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She began singing and playing piano at three, fully conversing in both languages at four; and composing music and writing poetry and stories from five years old. At six, she was offered a position with the established international group"Aurora". Smith began as Aurora's youngest member and became its solo lead vocalist, touring regularly throughout the next several years, headlining at large and mid-sized venues all over Europe.
Music career
Touring in Europe led to performances in America; given an opportunity to live in Las Vegas, Smith moved to the United States. In her early teens, she was in an all-girl trio, which performed on the Vegas Strip. The act was a success, but her songwriting began to take more and more time and she eventually set her sights on a career as a country artist in Nashville. In 2009, Smith was chosen to perform Alan Roy Scott's "Love Is The Answer" in Beijing at a concert broadcast throughout China on the country's primary television network, CCTV. In 2010, with a backing band, Smith performed two original songs and attained first place out of hundreds of competing Southern California musicians in KTLA-TV 's "Battle of the Bands" contest. Smith has had several connections with Japan, starting with having her cover of Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" released in that country in 2010 on a Jackson tribute CD. Later that year, Sony Japan picked her composition "Fallin' 4 U" to be the debut single from the artist Aisha, which included a rap contribution from Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC. In April, 2011, Smith's own production of her song "Kissing Tree" was selected for a compilation CD released to raise relief funds after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Aisha and DMC performed "Fallin' 4 U" in Central Park, New York City, in June, 2011. In February 2015, country musictrade publicationMusicRow announced that Smith was signed to a publishing contract with the major label publishing affiliate BMG/Chrysalis in a joint venture with Big Stage Music LLC. Her single "Free Beer" was released for sale on February 17 and selected as upcoming artist/song for play by nationwide satellite channelThe Highway on its "On the Horizon" program. On March 19, Smith appeared live on the popular Bobby Bones Show podcast, playing her song "Ride". Smith is part of the female production duo called "Lyre". It consists of Smith and her friend Elli Moore. They have collaborated multiple times with American singer-songwriters Gabbie Hanna and Kirstin Maldonado.
