Almodóvar del Campo
Almodóvar del Campo is a town and municipality of Spain, located in the autonomous community of Castilla–La Mancha, most specifically in the province of Ciudad Real, some 14 km S.S.W. of the provincial capital, on the northern side of the Sierra de Alcúdia. The etymological origin of Almodóvar is the المدوّر, al-mudawwar, "round, circular ".History
Almodóvar was a Moorish fortress in the Middle Ages. By the early 20th century it owed its prosperity to the nearness of the valuable Puertollano coal-field. Its manufactures included lace and linen and it had a trade in livestock, oil and wine. South of the Sierra lies the Alcúdia Valley, which was used as pasture for immense flocks of sheep.
