Amanda Asay


Amanda Asay is a Canadian baseball and ice hockey player. She is a member of the Canada women's national baseball team which won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games.

Playing career

Asay competed at Brown University in softball.

Baseball

She has competed with the Canadian national team in seven IBAF Women's World Cups. At the 2006 and edition of the IBAF Women's World Cup, she was named to the tournament all-star team. Of note, she logged a.500 batting average while accumulating nine RBI's.

Hockey

Asay played for head coach Digit Murphy with the Brown Bears women's ice hockey program. From 2010 to 2012, Asay competed in women's ice hockey with the UBC Thunderbirds. During the 2010-11 UBC Thunderbirds women's ice hockey season, Asay contributed 11 points.

Awards and honours

She earned a Masters of Science degree from the University of British Columbia. Currently, she is the second year of PhD studies at UBC in the faculty of Forestry. She is a student of Forest Ecologist Suzanne Simard and has appeared alongside her supervisor in the documentary film "Intelligent trees".
