Amit Agarwal


Amit Agarwal became Solicitor General of Florida on June 10, 2016. Before his appointment, he had served as the deputy chief of the Appellate Division for the United States attorney for the Southern District of Florida in Miami.
Agarwal received a degree in English from Duke University before attending Georgetown University Law Center where he graduated magna cum laude.
Agarwal, who had served as a law clerk for Brett Kavanaugh while he was a judge on United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 2006 to 2007, strongly supported Kavanaugh's nomination to the United States Supreme Court in the media and before the United States Senate.
Agarwal also served as a law clerk for United States Supreme Court justice Samuel Alito.
