Anare Jale


Anare Jale is a Fijian politician and member of the Parliament of Fiji. He is vice-president of the Social Democratic Liberal Party.
Jale worked as a diplomat and civil servant, serving as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Labour, Fijian Ambassador to the United States and then Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Commission from May 2005 to 7 December 2006. He was dismissed from office by the military junta after the 2006 Fijian coup d'état. Relations between Jale and the Military Commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, had long been strained.
He was selected as a SODELPA candidate in the 2014 elections, but was disqualified as a candidate under the Political Parties Decree for non-residency. He stood in the 2018 elections and was elected to parliament, winning 4,287 votes.
