Anatoly Ignashchenko


Anatoly Ignashchenko was a prominent Ukrainian architect, specializing in the design of monuments and memorial complexes. Mr. Ignashchenko was a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. In 1974, he was awarded with the Shevchenko National Prize for his work on the Lesya Ukrainka monument. In 2010, he became awarded as a People's Artist of Ukraine. Other honours received include Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise and Order of the Badge of Honour.

Biography

Anatoly Ignashchenko was born on January 28, 1930, in the village of Zaharivtsi. In 1953 he graduated from the Architecture Department of the Engineering Institute. He was a student of famous architect Joseph Karakis.
