Andrew Westmoreland
Andrew Westmoreland is an academic administrator. He served as the 18th President of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama since 2006. From 1998 to 2006, he was the President of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.Early life
Andrew Westmoreland was born in Batesville, Arkansas. He received a B.A. in Political Science from Ouachita Baptist University in 1979, an M.A. in the same field from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.Career
Westmoreland served as the President of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas from 1998 to 2006. Since 2006, he has served as the president of Samford University. In addition to serving as president, he has also taught Political Science at Samford University.
Westmoreland is the vice chair of the Board of Arkansas Independent Colleges and Universities, Chair of the board of directors of the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Universities, and the Consortium for Global Education, as well as director for the Foundation for Independent Higher Education. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Business Alliance, the Board of Trustees of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Advisory Board of the Greater Birmingham Salvation Army. He is also a trustee of the Baptist Health Corporation Board in Arkansas, and the Baptist Health System in Birmingham. He has also served as a consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission.Personal life
