Anerley Town Hall

Anerley Town Hall is a municipal building in Anerley Road, Anerley, London. It is a locally listed building.

History

The building, which was designed by George Elkington in the Italianate style as a vestry hall, was completed in 1879. It became the headquarters of Penge Urban District in 1900 and was extended to incorporate a council chamber and committee rooms in 1911 before being expanded further to create court facilities in 1925. It ceased to be the local seat of government when the enlarged London Borough of Bromley was formed in 1965. It was converted for library and community use in 1987 and converted again, this time into a series of commercial offices, in 2003.
