Anja Chong
Anja Chong is a Malaysian short track speed skater. Dubbed Malaysia’s ‘Ice Queen’, Anja made a clean sweep at the Southeast Games 2017 in Kuala Lumpur where she won 3 gold medals in the 500m, 1000m and 3000m Ladies Relay. It was the first time winter sports was contested in SEA Games history.
One month before the SEA Games, she became the Malaysian Short Track Speed Skating National Champion, sweeping all the Ladies events - the 500m and 1000m to become the Overall Ladies Champion.
In 2013, she placed second overall in Junior Ladies in the ISU World Development Short Track Speed Skating Trophy, winning silver medals in both the 500m and 1000m.
Anja took a hiatus from the sport to pursue her studies and in 2016 she was awarded a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. She started short track speed skating again in the 2016/2017 season.
In February 2017, Anja took part in the Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, where Malaysia was represented for the first time.
A former figure skater who completed in the 2009 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, Anja is currently Director, Head of Business Development at the Portcullis Group of companies.
