Anwar Habib


Syed Mohammad Anwar Habib,, is a Pakistani electrical engineer and physicist, specializing in electromagnetism who is the former chairman of the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

Life and education

Habib received his early and intermediate education in Pakistan. He received his Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Dawood Engineering College in Karachi, followed by a master's degree from Quaid-e-Azam University. He gained further education in Italy and USA.
Habib started working for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in 1975, and later joined PNRA upon its founding in 2001. He was made Chairman of PNRA in 2009. Habib has spoken internationally, and written multiple papers on nuclear regulation and safety.
