Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo


The Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo is a Latin Catholic pre-diocesan jurisdiction in Eastern Province, Kenya.
It is exempt, i.e. directly dependent on the Holy See and its missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, not part of any ecclesiastical province.
It has its episcopal see and headquarters in the Isiolo town, where it has the St. Eusebius Cathedral.

History

It was created on 15 December 1995 as Apostolic Vicariate of Isiolo/ Isiolan, on territory split off from the Diocese of Meru.

Statistics

As per 2014, the vicariate pastorally serves 49,800 Catholics on an area of 25,605 km², in 13 parishes and a mission with 22 priests, 55 lay religious and 12 seminarians.
