Arne Lofthus


Arne Lofthus was a Norwegian painter who settled in Denmark.

Earlt life and education

He was born in Bergen to newspaper editor Olav Lofthus and Valborg Henriette Wallem.

Career

Among his paintings are the frescos Pike som grer håret, Else blåser såpebobler, Oksestek and Blomkål og epler, all in the National Gallery of Norway. His portraits include oceanographer Bjørn Helland-Hansen, poet Nordahl Grieg, and painters Karl Madsen and Joakim Skovgaard.

Personal life

Lofthus was married to Sofie Madsen, a daughter of the painter and art historian Karl Madsen.
