Arnold Nogy


Arnold Nogy is a Canadian nature, animal, and wildlife artist. He is also known for his creation of a significant number of designs for Canadian coinage.

Personal background

He was born and grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Nogy spent summers at his family's cottage north of Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay where he became a self-taught nature artist. He spent his time in outside exploration, sketching and painting as he studied the tiny details of leaves, insects, birds and flowers. Nogy works in watercolour, pastel, graphite, charcoal, conte and oil mediums.
He exhibits in galleries in Canada and the United States including the Society of Animal Artists and the Algonquin Museum in Algonquin Park, Canada.
He is a member of the Worldwide Nature Artists Group since 2003 and the Society of Animal Artists since 1992.

Numismatic commissions

Nogy has had several commissions granted by the Royal Canadian Mint. To date nineteen coin designs
have been accepted.
