Asch, Netherlands


Asch is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 9 km northwest of Tiel.
In 2001, the town of Asch had 176 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.048 km², and contained 71 residences.
The statistical area "Asch", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 400.
According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, Asch was founded before 1405. In World War II, an Allied forward air base was at Asch. This base was attacked unsuccessfully in Operation Bodenplatte.
