Asia Inspiration Award


The Asia Inspiratian Award is an award conferred to recognize the young individuals who build an environment to meet the sustainable development goals and primary needs in a country. Given annually by the South Asian Youth Summit, the awards are an international recognition of merits who contribute their work at community, regional, national or international levels. The award comprises a Gold Pin Medal, a scroll and a citation which was introduced by the International Youth Committee, a United Nations accredited International Youth Organization.

History

The first South Asian Youth Summit was held in Bhubaneswar City, Odisha, Republic of India on September 20, 2017, under the theme of “Creating a Sustainable Future: Empowering Youth with Sustainable Opportunities”. The summit was organized by the International Youth Committee, an International Youth Organization accredited by the United Nations, to widen the scope of youth engagement in initiating and developing a structure to meet the sustainable development goals of the United Nations. Dignitaries such as Dr.Biren Sikder, Hon’ble State Minister for Youth and Sports, Bangladesh, Mr.Rajendra Kumar KC, Hon’ble Minister of Youth affairs & Sports, Government of Nepal, Ms. Aishath Rafiyya of Republic of Maldives, Dr. K.A.S. Keeregala, Director General Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Government of Sri Lanka and Prof. Ram Boojh, Chief participated in the summit.

Asia Inspiration Award 2018

In 2018 the 2nd South Asian Youth Summit was held on November 30 at Hotel Galadari, Sri Lanka. Over 450 delegates from over 80 countries, including observer nation representatives from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, participated in the summit. IYC introduced the Asia Inspiration Award to be bestowed to inspiring young individuals in South Asia who were believed to be the next leaders. Thirty five Asia Inspiration Awards were awarded to one young individual from each country during the 2nd South Asian Youth Summit, for their contribution towards implementing the sustainable development goals.
