Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (Ghana parliament constituency)


Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament by the first past the post system of election. The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency is located in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district of the Central Region of Ghana.

Boundaries

The seat is located entirely within the district of the same name in the Central Region of Ghana.

Elections

Anthony Effah, the current MP for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency was elected in the 2016 Ghanaian general election. He won just over 50% of the total votes cast. Asikuma has been represented by slightly different constituencies over the years. It was initially the Ajumako-Asikuma constituency. In the 1965 Ghanaian parliamentary election, it was split from Ajumako and became the Asikuma constituency. During the Fourth Republic of Ghana, it became the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency starting with the 1992 Ghanaian parliamentary election. Its first MP was Ebenezer Kobina Fosu who successfully held his seat in the 1996 Ghanaian parliamentary election.
