phthalic acid

.
He devised a
systematic nomenclature
for
organic
chemistry
based on

molecules
to
determine
how the molecules combine in
organic reactions
. He studied under
Jean-Baptiste Dumas
as a
laboratory
assistant
and
worked
with
Charles Frédéric Gerhardt
