Ayala Ingedashet


Ayala Ingedashet is an Israeli singer, of Ethiopian Beta Israel origins. She was born in Ethiopia and lived in Israel from the age of two. At the age of 14 she joined a youth band in Ashdod and in the military she was part of a Navy band. Her musical influences included Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She was signed by Israeli record label Hed Arzi, becoming the first Ethiopian-born Israeli singer with a major-label deal. She has since achieved popularity and is performing with acts like Ehud Banai, Mosh Ben-Ari, Jill Scott, and Macy Gray.
Her debut self-titled album came out in March 2007. Today she is considered to be perhaps second only to Cabra Casay amongst mainstream Ethiopian Israeli singers, having had a successful album by a major label, as well as having performed the Israeli national anthem at the opening of the 2009 Maccabiah Games.
Ingedashet was also part of the cast of the children series Shalom Sesame.
