Azizol Abu Haniffah


Azizol Abu Haniffah was a midfielder with Perak FA in Malaysia. He played with the national team in FIFA World Cup qualification, SEA Games, Merdeka Tournament and Asian Games. In 1990, he captained Perak FA to win the inaugural competition of Malaysia FA Cup by beating Selangor FA 4-2. He was one of the best midfielder for both Perak FA and Malaysia national football team.
Azizol was known for his close ball control, pin-point passing and indomitable spirit when playing. Perak fans regarded him as one of the best player that ever played and a living legend for Perak until now. He rejected offer from other states FA and foreign clubs because his preference and high esteem to play for Perak FA.
In 1991, Azizol was selected into the Asian Team of the Year - First XI by Asian Football Confederation Sadly, his career ended after match fixing scandal in the 1994 season and he was banned from playing professionally for life. He is currently working as a Sports Officer and Team Coach for Perodua FC in Rawang, Selangor. Perodua FC is part of Selangor's domestic league.
