Bacqueville-en-Caux


Bacqueville-en-Caux is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France.

Geography

A farming village in the valley of the Vienne river, in the Pays de Caux, situated some southwest of Dieppe, at the junction of the D149 and D23 roads.

Population

History

The Baskervilles in England come from this village, called sometimes Baskervilla, Bascervilla in ancient records. Robert de Bascheville or de Baskeville received lands in Herefordshire after the Battle of Hastings and he held Eardisley Castle in that county.
