Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine


Banat's University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine “King Michael I of Romania” from Timișoara is a university in Timișoara, Romania which specializes in life sciences and veterinary medicine. The former Agricultural Institute Timișoara was established at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara by Royal Decree in 1945. After it split off and 6 new faculties were established, it became an independent university with Paun Otiman as the first rector from 1991 to 2004. He was succeeded by Alexandru Moisuc, Paul Pirsan and Cosmin Alin Popescu. The university is involved in many European Union research projects like Biofector and leads the German-Romanian agriculture project in Voiteg.
