Bangladesh University of Professionals is a unique public university run by Bangladesh Armed Forces in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka. It aims to facilitate professional degrees and to run undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degrees through its faculties, affiliated institutes, academics, organizations. It also provides with Diploma degree on different languages. It offers many club activities for its students so they can achieve many skills and apply them in their practical life. Such as - BUP Career Club, BUP Economics Club, BUP global Affairs Council, BUP Business and Communication Club, BUP Literature and Drama Club, etc. are the leading club of BUP as well as the countries.

History

Establishment of a university for the armed forces educational and training institutes was a long felt need. National security, war strategy, medical, engineering and technology related to higher studies are in high demand at present. To keep pace and to be at par with the fast developing world, the national higher studies, research enabling modern knowledge and creating scope for education and studies are the obligations to be fulfilled. In order to expand and integrate the existing educational and training institutes of the armed forces, they were needed to be brought under a single umbrella or authority. Thereby, the establishment of "Bangladesh University of Professionals," took place in that process and came in to being as 29th public university of Bangladesh on 5 June 2008. BUP is a unique public university run by the armed forces with upholding the motto "EXCELLENCE THROUGH KNOWLEDGE". The youngest university is confident in furthering the knowledge in the field of national security, technology and modern science to achieve the desired human resources development of the country.

Facilities and Services

Transportation

Mechanical Transport Section is one of the most vibrant and vital section under the Registrar office of . With limited number of transports and drivers in comparison to its growing members, it delivers dynamic commuting facilities for teachers, officers, staffs and students, from the significant corners of Dhaka city.

Cafeteria

Welcome to the Vista Cafeteria at Bangladesh University of Professionals. It is well spacious cafeteria with necessary facilities. It offers the quality food and service at a reasonable price to students, teachers, officials, staffs, and guests. Along with the main cafeteria, it has an open sitting space for students where they can take foods and pass their time in fresh breathing environment with eye soothing lake view. The cafeteria remains open for the students from 7.30 am to 8.00 pm. Different kinds of snacks including fast food and traditional foods are available at Vista cafeteria. It maintains proper cleanliness and food hygiene. It is great place to hang out.

Accommodation/Halls

Bangladesh University of Professionals is a new university and it does not have any dedicated hall building. However, the university authority has rented 6 buildings at Mirpur DOSH to address the students accommodation issue. At present about 400 students are residing there.

Medical

BUP medical center inaugurated in March 2010 running with chief medical officer, senior medical officer, 1 medical officer, 1 paramedic, 2 medical assistants & 2 office assistants under supervision of VC office. Now a day, BUP medical center runs beyond office hour up to 5:30 pm on working days. Beside this, medical coverage given on BUP self-finance program on Friday & Saturday 9:00 am to 9:30 pm & Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. A wheel chair is kept on 8th & 12th floor of academic building for emergency patient transport. In addition, the medical center provides medical support on 24 hours on call basis and during seminar, symposium, workshop, sports & cultural activities. Voluntary blood donation program is also organized by medical center.

Day Care

In Bangladesh, at present a large number of females are serving in various fields in different military & civil organization. The number of serving housewives has gradually increased in recent years than ever before. As both father & mother are serving parallelly, nurturing their children are being hindered. That's why parents must have to depend on housemaid for looking after their beloved children which sometimes are not safe & reliable. As a result, matter of nurturing the children in absence of parents is creating a silent hindrance at their workplace.
BUP has established a Day Care Center and the function of this center has started officially since 5 December 2017. It has all types of modern amenities that ensure proper nutrition, pre-school education, first aid and indoor.

ICT Services

BUP currently have more than 700 computers with internet connection in class rooms, computer labs, cyber center, language center  and different offices in order to conduct student education, research activities and routine job. High speed Wi-Fi connections are available in all the places of BUP campus including the halls for all teachers, officers, employees and students.
