Barsoi


Barsoi is a town and nagar panchayat which serves headquarters of a subdivision in Katihar district in the state of Bihar, India.
It is an important railway junction under Katihar division Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways.
Barsoi Junction connects four routes as in the north Siliguri Junction on broad gauge and New Jalpaiguri Junction on broad gauge, on broad gauges Radhikapur near Bangladesh border on east and Katihar Junction on west and on south Kumedpur Junction railway station, Kolkata.It is one of the biggest railway junction of NFR.

Divisions

Barsoi subdivision is divided into four community development blocks: Kadwa, Azamnagar, Barsoi and Balrampur.

Geography

The main languages spoken here are Surjapuri, Urdu, Hindi and Bengali. Barsoi Railway station is one of the major junctions of NFR railway, with more than 100 trains passing through the station, connecting passengers to all major stations in the country. Rice, wheat, jute, and maize are some of the important crops grown here. The Barsoi subdivision is spread around 1450 km². The climate of Barsoi is highly diverse with high rainfall, mainly in the months of June to September. The minimum temperature in winter is around 10 °C, and maximum temperature in summer is around 42 °C.
In 2017, Barsoi was declared a Nagar Panchayat by the state government of Bihar, and is still under development. It is one of the biggest townships of Katihar district. Other Panchayat of Barsoi are Maulana Pur Raghunathpur and Sultanpur Panchayat. It has a small market close to the railway station and one more at the rail gate known as Railway Gumti. The largest market is situated 4 kilometers away from the railway junction called Barsoi Bazar where you can find many basic necessities. Many shops are located there, which can fulfill your requirements of daily life. Barsoi has a movie theatre and a police station located in Busuu Bazar.
