Battle of Kowang-san


The Battle of Kowang-san, also known as the Battle of Hill 355, was fought during the Korean War between United Nations Command forces—primarily Royal Canadian Regiment—and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army at :ko:고왕산|Kowang-san, it was nicknamed ”Little Gibraltar” by UN troops because of its prominent size and many defensive positions.
Léo Major received his Second Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions in this battle. Leo Major commanded his men and captured the hill, then preceded to hold out against a Chinese Counter Attack
