Bay-ang


Bayang is one of the 44 barangays of the municipality of Ubay, in the province of Bohol, Philippines.

Bayang celebrates its annual fiesta every 21 May in honor of its patron saint San Isidro Labrador.

Location

Located in the central part of the municipality, Bay-ang is landlocked and is bounded to the north by Casate, Calanggaman and the municipality of Tuboran, to the east by Imelda, to the west Tubog, and to the south by Pagasa and Imelda.
The name may be derived from the banyan tree which is common near the river.

Government

There are seven puroks in the barangay, overseen by the elected kagawads.

Economy

People in the barangay are mostly farmers whose living is based on planting rice, camote, cassava, banana, and other vegetables. Some till small agricultural lots. Some of the population weave mats and produce palm oil and coconut products.
