She is married to Australian playwright Tony McNamara. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer 10 weeks after her son was born.
In 2019, Bromilow auctioned earrings she wore to the Oscars to an Australian organization helping families of women diagnosed with cancer, Mummy's Wish.
